Honda Odyssey is a good compromise for you. It is about 22 mpg driving in a mostly local, can easily accommodate 7 and a surprisingly good acceleration for a minivan (better than many cars).
There are many opportunities in the SUV seats 7 or 8, including a top line Mercedes ML350.
In my experience the quality of the Chevrolet is a little higher than in the Ford SUV responsibility, but also (here) I make all the ends for GM in my area.
